For Project Supervisors
This topic contains information for supervisors of individual Bachelor's and Master's thesis projects who want their students to use the cluster.
Important Restrictions
Please read carefully:
- This is a shared cluster, primarily for courses. GPU count and time per student as well as storage is limited.
- The cluster is down for maintenance in the week before each semester starts. This is non-negotiable. The supervisor and student have to account for this when planning the project schedule.
- Project length is limited to six months.
- For technical and administrative reasons a student can only do one project concurrently.
Projects
The following
project tags with predefined resources and restrictions are available.
All students are added to
projects
and
projects_jupyter
(for
Jupyter) by default with the above GPU hours as time budget. Changes are possible:
- Addition to
projects_4gpus
can be requested separately for students who need multiple GPUs for technical reasons and not performance.
- The number of GPU hours can be increased but the increase needs to be justified.
Data
Students will get a home directory with 20GB space which will also be used for courses that the students take.
A work directory under
/work/projects
can be requested:
- If the home directory is not large enough.
- If the supervisor needs to prepare data for or exchange data with the students.
The work directory will be named after the login name of the student. Default size is 20GB. More can be requested but has to be justified. Maximum size is 100GB.
Request
To request access for a student a supervisor (not the student) can send a mail to
our service desk with the following text:
Subject: Access to student cluster for student project
Please enable access to the student cluster for a student project:
